Black OPS 2: Are You Ready?

Can you wait? Are you super excited? Did you Pre-Order? Have you bought the shirt?
There is now a release date for Black Ops 2 of Nov. 13 2012 and the gaming world is already buzzing.  This latest creation from Activision and Treyarch will add one more notch to the Call of Duty belt.  Based on the comments from the trailer people can't wait for this new version as there seems to be some disappointment with MW3 and they need the next game and they need it now.
Wait didn't they say that about Black Ops?  Wasn't there mass disappointment about the maps and shooting mechanics? In fact the whole series has very vocal critics of it and it's lack of creativity.  Why do we think the next game will be any different?  Maybe we are hopeful that they will listen to us and make the next one they way we "want."  I believe that Call of Duty is a cash cow losing steam and they are going to cash in while they can.  Battlefield 3 has gained a huge fan base and converted many CoD players and most lists don't even have CoD at the top of the most anticipated shooters anymore.

The money, lets not forget the money. MW3 has a cost of over a hundred dollars for the "complete" experience and with rumors of Elite for Black Ops 2 how can they think a yearly upgrade for over a hundred dollars will fly in this economy? This is a common complaint about a lot of games. Call of Duty being sited as one of the worst offenders for the DLC costs.  I have written before singing the praises of video game value and the importance of DLC to continued gaming but believe that Call of Duty has crossed over from valuable to just plain costly.
I enjoy playing Call of Duty, especially multi-player with friends, but I'm not ready to see a new version of the game.  I don't trust that we can blindly assume that the next one will fix the continued issues of the franchise; then again I have said this about games and developers before.
